COVID-19 Ventilation Assessments
Schools operated by the Bureau of Indian Education
Tribal One completed critical assessments of the ventilation systems in schools operated or overseen by the federal Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) in 12 states. We received five of the seven regional awards to perform site surveys and ventilation assessments required by the BIE prior to reopening the schools to students. All in-person instruction at the schools ended in March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Team members evaluated the operation of current building ventilation systems, performed preventive maintenance and recommended system modifications to reduce the risk of indoor COVID-19 transmission. Assessments were conducted in all classrooms and other student-occupied areas at 49 schools located in the five regions.
Tribal One’s technical expertise rapidly reduced the risk and improved quality of life for hundreds of students and faculty members.
