Tribal One ensures air quality, COVID safety in Bureau of Indian Education schools

Tribal One Construction team members are finishing critical assessments of the ventilation systems in schools operated or overseen by the federal Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) in 12 states.

T1 Construction, LLC received five of the seven regional awards to perform site surveys and ventilation assessments required by the BIE prior to reopening the schools to students. All in-person instruction at the schools ended in March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Team members are evaluating the operation of current building ventilation systems, performing preventive maintenance and recommending system modifications to reduce the risk of indoor COVID-19 transmission. Assessment are being conducted in all classrooms and other student-occupied areas at 49 schools in the five regions.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs’ Office of Facilities, Property and Safety Management awarded the $2.5 million contract to Tribal One in fulfillment of its responsibility to administer safe schools and workplaces.

“This effort leverages Tribal One’s technical expertise to rapidly reduce risk and improve quality of life for hundreds of students and faculty members,” said Tribal One Project Manager, Matt Greene. “This is one way we can put our commitment to our nation’s tribal communities into action.”

Tribal One Construction (T1 Construction, LLC) is an Indian Small Business Economic Enterprise (ISBEE) and eligible for purchases set aside for firms in this category.
