T1-RJS Joint Venture (T1-RJS) team was awarded a top priority project to rehabilitate/upgrade several critical infrastructure elements required for the Mud Mountain Dam (MMD) fish passage facility. The existing fish passage facility is actually six miles downstream of MMD. This uniquely designed system is comprised of a barrier structure (owned by Cascade Water Alliance (CWA), a fish trap (owned by USACE), and a haul and release location upstream of the dam. The system maintains pink salmon migration and other species natural migration habits past MMD, and also allows the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe to gather brood stock for its adjacent hatchery.

Our team has been tasked with a very diverse scope of specialized and challenging elements of work, in order to meet or exceed the objectives of all stakeholders, and to ensure that the annual salmon run could proceed safely and efficiently.

Project Scope

  • Retrofit and upgrade the current fish transportation equipment,
  • Freeze protection improvements,
  • Upgrade existing hoist,
  • Upgrade fall protection,
  • Metal repairs,
  • Improve fish tag system,
  • Improve gate structure,
  • Remove large debris boom.

Project Successes

During the procurement process, and the construction operations the T1-RJS team maintained an attitude for excellence, with integrity by providing open transparent communication with the BIA in order to facilitate the successful award of the project within a budget that was attainable. T1/RJS has consistently given our clients the opportunity to work with a construction team that will cure their failing infrastructure safely, within budget and on or ahead of schedule.
